Conflicts in the region that impact India and its national interests have focused on the need to build enhanced military aircraft capabilities. While indigenous development has been gaining traction, that alone is clearly not enough. The country has taken concrete steps in recent times to build its aircraft inventory by collaborating with a number of leading global aerospace companies like Boeing. Its needs in this area includesUnmanned Aerial Vehicle, Intertial Measurement Unit and Altittude Hearing and Reference Systems. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in particular has caught the fascination of India’s Armed Forcesand the recent induction of UAVs from Israel stand testimony to the pontential of offsets in this segment. Defence experts believe that the country’s new focus on UAVs could even reshape in some measure the country’s defence strategy in the years to come.  Other products that hold potential from the country’s requirements include computerised command, control, communication and intelligence systems, Airborne Early Warning Systems and and Aircraft Simulation Systems.
